Well, the theory is...

That you stick to a list of foods, you eat them at certain times a day and in doing so, shed the pounds. The pounds are shed faster if you include exercise.

This is simple, is it not?

So why is it that only a few days in to my adventure, I seem to be unable to follow such a simple theory?!

Really, it isn't hard... eat, walk, lose weight... simple as that.

Yeah, right!

I don't seem to have accounted for the emotional aspect of this journey and I think the penny dropped today. I am going to have to try to not let my emotional state dictate what I eat and herein lies the problem.

Comfort food is lovely isn't it - it has all sorts of magic ways of making you feel oh so much better when you have a rubbish day. The problem is, such foods are usually heavily loaded with sugar and this usually takes the form of chocolate! Oh, lovely chocolate - the solution to a lot of problems!

So, where to go from here....

Lesson for the day - Don't let emotions rule your eating habits.

Solution for the day - Take it one meal at a time.

Rome wasn't built in a day - habits won't be broken in a day. When you are down, low or whatever; Stop. Think. Choose.

Losing weight is such a multi-dimensional journey - unfortunately it usually isn't as simple as "Don't eat as much".

This journey is full of rough terrain - anyone know where I can get some walking sticks to hold me up over the bumpy bits?!

It's a new dawn, it's a new day...

After my little lapse last night with a packet of Maltesers, I am pleased to say that I've managed to lose a pound today!

I rekon the effects of the Maltersers haven't happened yet, so will watch this space but even still - the weight is going in the right direction.

I have also plotted a 2 mile walk to take every day which I will start with on Monday... I hope I don't pass out up the enormous hill on the way home! I am hoping to time myself so I can gauge my increase in fitness as I go round.

I may also take some photos soon so you can all see the "before/after" that is always so inspirational... but I have to get brave first! Watch this space...

Pretty Things

This song from Leann Rimes has fantastic words.

Pay attention to the message and you will realise that we really should put more effort in to being ourselves and less effort into being constantly co-ordinated!

Pretty things are yours to hold,

My pretty thing, soon you will know;

Pretty things you think you need are not what make you beautiful,
Pretty things will rob you blind,
Pretty things will fade in time,
It's what's inside that makes you shine, my pretty thing.

I love this lesson; it gives me a great excuse to go on the school run without make-up on!

Let The Countdown Begin; All Systems Go!

Ok, so here goes.

Porridge for breakfast with manuka honey instead of sugar - it is really tasty. Expensive, but tasty!

I am having cottage cheese and ryvita for lunch and looking forward to chicken casserole later.

Don't panic - I'm not going to give a daily food diary; that would get boring lol.

I'm just going to hop on the scales - would you like to know the results?

I am going to add a quote from someone famous every now and then; today's quotes are what I shall try to live by during this journey:

All great achievements require time.

Maya Angelou

If you don't like something, change it.

If you can't change it, change your attitude.

Don't complain.

In the beginning...

Today is the first day of the rest of my life.

This blog will be my account of my weightloss challenge. I started with 10 stone to lose; I have 8 stone to go!

The personal trainer sessions have finished now and so I have to do this alone...

It is definitely hard task, but not impossible.

Just think - by the end of the marathon, I'll be exactly HALF my original body weight, having lost 10 stone in total!
